KunstWege
Experiencing art up close
The Grugapark’s objets d’art are the focus of the museum pedagogical programme “KunstWege” that targets adults and school classes with specific tours. Additional workshops are offered for children from 6 to 13.
The programme offers the possibility to get closer to the art in the park with an expert guide. Adults, children and young people experience the Grugapark, which currently has forty sculptures, as an open air museum. Historical works of art from important artists such as Auguste Rodin, Alfred Hrdlicka and Georg Kolbe impart the park not only beauty and charm but also the character of a museum.
But in contrast to a museum, works of art can also be touched in the Grugapark. Tactile experiences can be made on the sculpture itself: hard, smooth, porous, warm and cold surfaces can be touched and compared with each other. In this way art is experienced close up, a keener view is gained and interest is awakened in stone and metal works of art.
Art tours for adults can be arranged with fixed appointments in advance. The supplementary offers with workshops for children and young people are targeted at schools and groups of children or young people, as well as at single children or young people interested in art. They offer the possibility to discover and understand the park’s sculpture. The Grugapark thus presents itself as an ideal place to learn outside the school environment because the “open air museum” allows direct contact up close with the works of art.
